Since 2000,the economic and social development of the northwest region has achieved remarkable results under the strong support of national policies.Outstanding achievements have been made in infrastructure construction. In particular, transport infrastructure has made great achievements.Transportation infrastructure as a socially advanced capital is an important factor affecting economic growth.A good transportation infrastructure can bring about technological progress and efficiency improvement, increase total factor productivity, and promote regional economic development.First of all,the article theoretically analyzes the relationship between transport infrastructure and total factor productivity, and confirms the feasibility of the article's research ideas.Second, the article analyzes the status quo of the transport infrastructure in the northwest region, and the results show that although the transportation infrastructure in the northwest region,Rapid growth, but there are also problems with irrational structures and large spatial differences. The Malmquist production index analysis method was used to measure the total factor productivity in the northwestern region. The results showed that the overall total productivity of the northwestern region was greater than one,and it was in the efficiency improvement stage. However, the rate of change in total factor productivity in each province was positive and negative, and it was uneven; From the perspective of spatial spillovers, the spatial econometric model was used to study the relationship between transport infrastructure and total factor productivity in the northwestern region. The following conclusions were drawn: The transport infrastructure in the northwest region can promote the improvement of total factor productivity in the region and the promotion of the railway.Should be greater than the promotion of the highway. The spatial spillover effect of transport infrastructure is negative, which indicates that strengthening the construction of transport infrastructure in each province will weaken the total factor productivity in the surrounding areas, and the weakening effect of the highway will be less than the weakening effect of the railway. In short, the transportation infrastructure in the Northwest has a positive direct effect and negative spatial spillover effects.Industrial structure and human capital can also promote the growth of regional total factor productivity. However, the fiscal expenditure policy in the northwest regionhas impeded the growth of total factor productivity. The level of urbanization and the influence of foreign direct investment on regional total factor productivity are uncertain; From the macro and meso perspectives,it puts forward some reflections on the economic and social development of the northwest region. From a macro perspective,we should plan the development of the northwest region from an overall perspective, improve the connectivity in the northwest region, and bring into play the advantages of regional integration. In the middle concept, the provinces can continue to increase investment in transportation infrastructure and give full play to the local effects of transport infrastructure. However, all provinces should fully understand their own strengths and weaknesses, formulate reasonable policies based on actual conditions, promote the improvement of total factor productivity of the province, and drive the overall development of the regional economy.
