Current Status And Countermeasures Of Potato Industry In Huize County

The potato as fourth largest food crops,its high nutritional value and good planting benefit,to ensure food safety and farmers out of poverty to get rich had great significance.30 percent farmland of Huize County planted potatoes,especially mountains,mid-levels district,the potato was both the main food crop and farmers' main economic source,so the yield and quality of potato is related to these areas farmers' quality of life and social stability.Huize was the second largest potato production county in Yunnan province,with a growing area of 700,000 Mu annually,in 2016,plant area of 802000 mu,total output of1.64 million tons,the output value of about 2.95 billion yuan,the national standardization of potato production base of 200000 mu,is the larger southern China region potato production base.The model of ‘one family with one over ten Mu' seed propagation was listed as provincial modern agriculture demonstration site in 2014.Along with the guidelines on the development of potato industry by the ministry of agriculture(MOA),by using potato as a staple food conducts industrialization development,Potato Industry has ushered in a new development opportunities and challenges in Huize County.Huize county have good natural conditions for potato growing,with government sound incentive and support policy,so planting area and yield increase year by year,and the main four cultivars,plant area more than 100000 Mu.Huize as national seedlings micropropagation and kind of potato production base,its breeding materials is diversity,and complex system and improve the scientific research equipment are very good;,Although,developing potato industry was very important agricultural work for government at all levels,potato production also have some problems in Huize county:1)weak agricultural infrastructures,the bad irrigation conditions and poor storing conditions,2)cultivated and special potato variety was limited,3)potato producer were farmers or single family and their quality were not high,they were hard to resist market risk of price was not stable which will Influence planting enthusiasm,4)lack timely and effective circulation ways,so the peasant sold potato at very low price.Above all problems reducedthe economic benefits of growing potatoes,and the development of potato industry in Huize county was blocked.Therefore,the government of Huize county need to develop a series of beneficial to the potato production,lead and supervise the potato industry.Cultivated varieties need reasonable layout;increasing investment in science and technology,perfect breeding facilities,combined with agricultural standardization,around the principle of pollution-free,green food,use of good law,to improve the quality of potato production;Perfect service system to realize the seamless docking,sales of Huize potato out of the mountains,into the market to achieve value-added products.In addition,the potato processing enterprises are introduced to develop deep processing to realize the high value of potatoes.On the one hand,enterprises and farmers have solved the sales problems of farmers,and on the other hand,they are better suited to the development needs of enterprises,which can promote the healthy and orderly development of potato industry.
