Status Analysis And Countermeasure Research On The Potato Industry Of Longhai County In Fujian Province

In the1990s, Haicheng town of Longhai city in Fujian province has set a precedent of potatoindustry in Longhai city. Due to the nature of easy-grow and market requirement of potato bringsbetter economic efficiency to Haicheng town, the positivity of planting farmers are promotingcontinually, the scale of production is expanding constantly and the potato industry is developingsteadily. Haicheng town become one of50potato demonstration sites that belongs to500high-yield grain demonstration counties in China which is determined by Ministry of Agriculture.First of all, the paper elaborate the research background of potato industry. Potato is not onlyan important food crop but also the raw material of food processing and production, its nature ofeasy-grow also makes it an important security food. Fujian province is one of the provinces thatplant potato at the earliest, the development of potato industry, especially winter potato industry,has been considered as a main measure to improve the characteristic agriculture and farmers’income increase in Fujian province. The development of potato industry plays an important andstrategic role in national stability, development of agricultural economy and farmers’ incomeincrease.Secondly, the paper is based on the relevant definition to analyse the connotation ofagriculture industrialization, and mainly elaborates the theoretical framework of the developmentof agriculture industrialization in the aspects of feature, subject, object, operating mechanism anddevelopment patterns, etc. Meanwhile, the paper also analyses the status quo, problems andpotential of the development of the potato industrialization in Fujian province comprehensivelyand thoroughly.Thirdly, the paper is on the foundation of elaborating the significance of the development ofthe potato industry and explaining the advantages of land, climate, economy, technology,transportation, policy in Longhai city. Then it mainly analyses the status quo of potato industry ofLonghai city in Fujian province from the aspects of its patterns, main achievements and relevantsocial relationships. Meanwhile, the paper also uses the model of CCR and BCC in DataEnvelopment Analysis (DEA) to study the production efficiency of potato industry in Longhai cityaccording to the status quo of potato industry in it. The constraints in the fields of variety,virus-free seed potato, synthetic technique, processing system, storage, and specialized market will be put forward objectively through the analysis of production efficiency situation of potatoindustry in Longhai city.Finally, the paper is based on the city case of Longhai city in Fujian province and the statusquo of potato industry, and according to the problems and constraints that exist in the developmentof the potato industry, this paper learns from the valuable experiences of international anddomestic advanced areas’ potato industry and put forward some suggestions to speed up thedevelopment of potato industry of Longhai City in Fujian Province.
