In recent years,the petrochemical plant in our country has greeted a peak of construction by having various projects launched.As an important chemical raw material,styrene has been suffering from insufficient domestic capacity and has been importing for years.The S company is a large state-owned engineering company which is completely capable of processing styrene and qualified to undertake the general contracting business of styrene plant projects.Therefore,S company has great potential in the future construction of styrene plant which is also of great significance to the development of the company.However,due to some deficiencies in the project cost control,S company's competitiveness in general contracting business has been weakened.The paper firstly looks into and summarizes the existing problems in cost control of S company and analyze the causes in depth.It proposes solutions for adjustment of project organization structure,optimization of the range of unreasonable sub-delivery materials,new methods of project visa and project track by using Earned Value theory especially for cost in project visa.Lastly,it includes a case study of Jiangxi styrene plant project to test the effect of the proposed solutions in practice.
