At present,with the development of the economy,the traditional performance management can no longer satisfy the need of steel companies which will lead to series of problems,such as the nonstandardized system,the unclear responsibility of organizations,the incomplete performance of indicator system,and the unclosed relationship between the system and the payment.In addition,the performance weight setting is not scientific,and the lack of necessary performance communication and low employee participation.These issues mentioned above will probably hinder the further development of the A steel company.In order to make the function of the performance management system better and serve the management and the development of the company,this paper proposed a modified method applied into the performance management system of A steel company.The system is re-designed by combined the relevant knowledge of performance management,which will provide reference for the continuous reform and innovation of the system of steel companies in the future.This paper firstly introduces the research background and its significance,and the present development of the performance management system in iron and steel industry at home and abroad.Through analyzing the improvement of performance management system in A steel company,there still some problems exist in the modified system,such as the strong subjectivity.On the basis of summarizing the domestic and foreign scholars on the performance management system and performance management methods,the basic idea and structure of this paper are determined.Secondly,in order to make the better understanding of the relevant conceptions of performance management and the research focus,amount of consulting work has been carried on.And these methods used in the literature provide a concrete theoretical basis for this paper.Finally,to introduce the situation of performance management of A steel company from the aspects of performance appraisal,performance cycle and principles,relevant departments responsibility,etc.respectively,and take the way of investigation and interview to acknowledge the actual practice situation of A company original performance management.What's more,to analyze the problems existing in the current company with the original performance evaluation system and assessment content.The following research is carried out for the problems discovered: the first is to clarify the design principles of the performancemanagement system through detailed analysis.The second is to establish the assessment subject and its cycle based on the actual situation of A steel company.The third is to clarify the design steps of performance management,and to redesign the performance appraisal system and methods.The advantage of the new system is much more objective through the comparison of A steel company before and after).The last is to take some effective measures to enhance the communication and promote the level of performance management so as to make the new system carry on smoothly).At the same time,an effective combination with the performance management system and the development goals and strategies will make an active effect on the sustainable development of the company.
