With the rapid development of social economy, the contradiction between ecological environment and economic development is becoming increasingly prominent. The order of land and space development is chaotic. The area which is suitable for economic development is developing vigorously, while the area suitable for protection is also being developed vigorously. As a result, the sustainability of space development is threatened. It's become a hot issue of geography research to divide the national space into developing and protecting space by using scientific and reasonable partition method. It helps to rationally configure the space for development and protection, and achieve high spatial resource allocation efficiency.Based on the summary of regional space planning and the partition theoretical research both at home and abroad, establish suitability evaluation system by choosing natural ecological constraints and support of economic development as two dimensions to evaluate. This paper takes Yantai city as study area, divide the space of national land development.Specific studies would be including following aspects:(1)According to the data of land use change of 2010,departments planning text and statistical yearbook data of Yantai, study the natural conditions, social economic development and the status quo of national spatial development in Yantai. This paper focuses on the current situation, structural features and existing problems of the development pattern of the land and space in Yantai city.(2)Researching the characteristics of natural ecological environment and economic development, and constructing evaluation index system by choosing reasonable evaluation indexes.Using the analytic hierarchy process(AHP)to determine evaluation index weights.(3)Calculating the index of natural ecological constraint and economic development support respectively.According to the natural ecological constraint index,Yantai is divided into four categories:high natural ecological constraint area, higher natural ecological constraint area, middle natural ecological constraint zone and low natural ecological constraint area.According to the economic development support index,Yantai is divided into high economic development support zone, high economic development support zone, medium economic development support zone and low economic development support zone.(4)According to the level of natural ecological constrains and economicdevelopment support, classifying the area by the method of mutual exclusivity matrix. The development space of Yantai city is divided into six types: priority zone, appropriate development zone, control zone, moderate protected zone, priority protected zone and reserve area.Priority zones are mainly distributed in most areas of Zhifu district, north of Laishan district, east of Fushan district, and western part of Longkou city. The appropriate development zone includes the central part of Fushan district, the south of Laizhou city and the south of Haiyang city. The control zone includes the south of Longkou city, the central part of Qixia city and the eastern part of Zhaoyuan.Moderately protected areas include the eastern part of Laiyang city, the west of Haiyang city, the eastern part of Laizhou city, and parts of Qixia city.Priority protected zone mainly include drinking water sources, wetlands, nature reserves and other areas, which are dotted. The area of priority protected zone covers only 0.84% of the total area. The reserve area mainly includes the parts of Qixia city, the south of Muping district and the eastern part of Haiyang city.According to the segmentation results, different development suggestions for different types of regions are proposed.
