After thirty years of reform and opening up,China's manufacturing industry now is facing a fierce global competitive environment which is highly transparent with specialized division after experiencing a vigorous development period.Without the cooperation of suppliers,the enterprise itself cannot create greatest value for their customers.Therefore,the necessity of strengthening supplier performance management has become a common view of the manufacturing industry.This paper takes Y Company – an US invested electronic manufacturing services(EMS)company,who has served small-batch production industries for many years,as the research object.Through the analysis on current issue Y Company facing,which including profits decline and capital chain tension,the author concluded that insufficient supplier performance management is the root cause.Thereafter,through the usage of domestic and foreign research results of supplier management theory,according to the purchasing pattern of small-batch production industries,small quantity with varieties and high complexity,the author did a multi-dimension classification on suppliers by using the Kraljic matrix model and SWOT analysis on supply profit,risk and supplier position status.Then a complete supplier performance management plan is established which including performance evaluation index design through quality,delivery time,cost and service dimensions,evaluation method,evaluation frequency,management strategy,optimization suggestions for follow-up evaluation result management method and optimization on related process and policy.At the same time,since the plan get both internal and external of company involved,also may have difficulties and risks,an implementation plan and supporting programs are designed to ensure that the plan can be carried out smoothly.In China,the development of small-batch production industries like aviation,military and large equipment manufacturing industries has just started,with the development of Industrial 4.0,implementation of the "2025 China manufacturing",like what Europe and the United States did before,China will also gradually shifting the production of those mass-production industries to those countries and regions who with lower costs,and keep and develop small-batch production industries which are more complex and involved with high-end technology.The main purpose of this paper is to take Y Company as a sample,using the supplier management experience from those mass production industries,like traditional appliances digital 3C,automobile and other mass production industry,tries to find out a suitable supplier performance management method in small batch production industries.The research results can be applied to other enterprises at similar industries and to promote the healthy development of the supplier management level in small batch production industries and make them more prosperous in China.
