A Study On Development Strategy For COSCO Logistics In Project Logistics

Recent years have witnessed increasing improvement of the logistics infrastructureconditions, development environment and overall logistics service level, constant increase of total logistics demands, along with rapid and steady development of China's economy. In the international community, most countries have gradually recovered from the economic crisis;the international economic situation is generally taking a turn for the better. Besides, the advocacy and implementation of China's “B&R” strategy have brought brilliant development prospects for the project logistics. Therefore, to study development strategies of China COSCO Logistics Co., Ltd.(COSCO Logistics) for its project logistics business is of vital practical significance to development of its project logistics, in that, it can help the company adopt efficient development countermeasures, avoid threats, give full play to its advantages and transform weaknesses into strengths.This paper first reviews relevant project logistics theories and research status both at home and abroad and expounds on the concept of project logistics in great details so as to provide theoretical support for in-depth research. Second, under the prerequisite of a full market survey, the development status of COSCO Logistics is summarized, and the focus is on discussing business scope, market distribution, business procedures, development positioning and development performance of the project logistics industry. Third, the internal,external and industrial competition environment facing project logistics business of the company is analyzed, and the “Michael Porter's Five Forces Model” was built, based on which various factors influencing COSCO Logistics were integrated and its basic competition status is systematically analyzed. Besides, SWOT analysis is conducted to deeply analyze strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the company's project logistics business.the quantitative and qualitative analysis methods are combined with the SWOT-CLPV model to systematically analyze the constraint effect(C), the leverage effect(L), the problems(P),and the vulnerability(V) brought by the four factors of SWOT analysis, namely strengths,weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Following that, based on internal advantages and disadvantages of COSCO Logistics opportunities and threats facing the company's competition environment are discussed at an attempt to find critical factors influencing the company's development. The controllability of these factors is examined, and the development strategies for business expansion, transformation and upgrade, competition andcooperation of the project logistics are put forward. Finally, it combined the development situation of COSCO Logistics and provided feasible measures.
