Research On The Operation System Of Project Logistics

Project Logistics is the special title for the logistics service to project materials, which is the outcome of the development of both project management science and logistics management science. With the development of project management science, most huge projects' management is falling into the mode of management as EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) general contract. Logistics providers are required to serve the projects with mainly door-to-door logistics service under the project general timetable and global purchasing schedule, ensure the safety of logistics operation and quality, and control the overall logistics cost in a reasonable level.International and domestic projects are booming continuously, and presenting a wonderful market for project logistics enterprises. It is a question worthwhile for discussion by Chinese logistics providers to find out the proper way of organizing or purchasing logistics resources and establish scientific and efficient logistics operation system in order to meet the requirement of efficiency, safety and cost saving.This article analyzes in details the concept and characteristics of Project Logistics, and presents an idea how to establish an efficient Project Logistics operation system with consideration on the development trend of international project management.
