Semiconductor product is close with people's life. The applicability, usability and reliability of semiconductor products have been greatly improved due to the technology advancement and productivity improvement. But neither customers nor enterprises satisfy with the status quo. The concept of zero defects will reduce the cost, ensure the process stability, and build the reputation for the company. As a result of that, the pursuit of high quality control has never stopped.I semiconductor company is a famous company in industry. Yield improvement is always a major project in this company. Yield improvement relies on not only the process technology breakthrough, but also the enterprise management optimization. A well-defined goal and effective managing flow can significantly increase the efficiency. This thesis focuses on the research study in Semiconductor Company I. Analyze company status and characteristic. Based on the theories of project management, we applied the six sigma techniques and tools in the yield improvement projects to guide the design, plan and implementation. Chapter 1is project background introduction and problem solve strategy. Second chapter is theoretical synthesis, include statistics, project management and six sigma method. Third chapter is project design and plan.Six sigma quality management methods are widely used by world-class companies because of the unique techniques and tools for process improvement. There are numerous successful examples. The core concept of six sigma is to pursue high quality. The company try to approach zero defect. A well-proved methodology, DMAIC provides a set of comprehensive theories, improving frameworks and statistic toolboxes.Based on the theories of project management, we applied the six sigma techniques and tools in the yield improvement projects to guide the design, plan and implementation. The end result proved the great application potential of six sigma theories in semiconductor industries. This use case serves as a demonstration and will stimulate more applications in the quality control during manufacturing. Considering the influence of Company I in the semiconductor industry, this study will propel the acceptance of six sigma theories in the industry.
