Financial system reform in our country is advancing in depth. With the rapid development of the Internet financial, business financial integration and private banks, the traditional commercial banks are faced with the increasingly fierce competition. Therefore, how will the commercial banks further improve the performance management system, and use performance management as one of the important ways to improve business performance becomes an urgent need to resolve. This subject has good theoretical value and practical guiding significance.Firstly, the systematic analysis of related basic theories of performance management for commercial banks. This article systematically combed the theory and related literature of commercial bank performance management, and clarified the concept of performance management, goals, and performance management framework. A comparative analysis of the performance management methods. Secondly,the overall analysis of the development situation in China’s banking industry. From the perspectives of the level of assets and liabilities, operating profit, capital adequacy and liquidity level, etc., the author analyzed overall development system in 2014 China’s banking sector., the present condition analysis of the performance management system of H branch of Shanghai pudong development bank. Based on a careful reading of relevant policies and system of the current performance management system of H branch of Shanghai pudong development bank, the author analyzed the executive staff performance appraisal system and the characteristics of the performance evaluation system of the branch. The analysis of existing problems and causes of performance management system of H branch of Shanghai pudong development bank. From dimensions of performance targets design, performance indicators, performance feedback and performance results application, the questionnaire survey was adopted in order to analyze the problems of performance management system. Lastly, By using the theory of Balanced Scorecard,the countermeasures and suggestions were provided for further perfection of performance management system of H branch of Shanghai pudong development bank. From the perspectives of perfecting the internal governance structure of commercial banks, establishing a multidimensional performance evaluation target system, constructing a comprehensive index system, building scientific incentive constraint mechanism, perfecting the performance value measurement methods and technical means, etc., the countermeasures and suggestions were provided to improve the performance management system.
