Research On Sensor Applications And Solutions In Tablets

In today's information era,no matter what in our work,or in our life,we have to receive more and more information,and the demanding increasingly for processing information.The pressing needs for receving and processing information anytime and anywhere contribute to producing some electronic equipment which made our life better.Tablet PC has been widely used in various fields in our life.In this trend of Consumer Electroincs is more and more intelligentized and portable,tablet PC became thiner,more powerful and more intelligent.In order to make tablet PC become more intelligentized and add more functions,more and more various sensors have been used in tablet PC production solution.However,it also caused a contradiction:you have to reduce design space for pursuing light and thin appearance,but if you want to add functions in tablet PC design,you need more space for circuit design because adding ICs and components for adding functions at the same time.Hence,this is a high demand to tablet PC hardware design solution.With the uninterrupted development of semiconductor technology,there are solutions for the contradiction.A piece of wafer could accommodate more transistors for uninterruptedly optimized semiconductor process,so that IC design could add more functions under the condition of no increasing wafer area,and the intergration of IC becomes higher.And the advanced IC package technology also make IC be smaller.It provides solutions for solving the contradiction through IC selection,optimized circuits design and reasonable structure.This paper provides a design solution for sensor hardware system of 8-inch tablet PC.All sensors which be used in solution are ICs and module,moreover ambient light sensor and proximity detection sensor is a combo module which application design is more complex.Compared with general tablet PC sensor hardware solution,the solution has following advantages:(1)Reducing component types so that facilitating stock for mass production and supply chain management.(2)Reducing PCB layout area so that could save tablet PC design space and select much stronger battery for tablet PC.(3)All sensor could be controlled by a I2C interface through different I2C address.The solution could save interface quantity and hardware design space.The paper first introducedthe history and developing trend of tablet PC,briefly explain the application of sensor which be used in tablet PC.And then,the paper introduced sensor's definition,development and characteristics in detail.The last focus onsensors hardware system solution which be used in tablet PC in this paper.
