In his controversial book," When China Rules the World," Martin Jacques predicts that twenty-first Century will witness the rise of China and the decline of the west.This prediction is clearly not applicable to the field of international communication been ruled by the west.In the context of global communication,the most concerned problem is the imbalance of information communication between countries.The transmission of Western media not only has the advantage in quantity,but also convey the inner emotional tendency to "demonize China ".How to portray China in the western media not only affects the perception of Westerners to China,but also affect other countries.Due to the differences in politics,culture and ideology,China's development are not smooth except for the rise of the economy.Since president Xi Jinping being in office,China's diplomacy has become more self-confident.Some historical problems,especially maritime sovereignty and Taiwan issue,have been affecting China's relations with the world.This paper only studies one aspect of the topic on the circulation of information between the East and the west,through the "China" column of the economist as the sample.The basic research method of this paper is content analysis.Based on the reports of the economist in China from 2012 to 2016,this paper carries out data coding,research design and statistical analysis,and analyzes the title,the content of the article,the attitude of the report,the emotional tendency,etc.According to the research and analysis of the content of the Chinese political reports after the 18 th CPC National Congress,this paper focuses on how the western media to shape the image of China and its new leaders in the new period,to fill the gaps in the current study.At the same time,the article also puts forward the specific strategies that can be adopted in the international communication,which can help to improve the level of Chinese media's cross cultural communication,and promote the shaping of a good international image of China.
