In recent years,communication cable interruption has caused great loss to the Internet,telecom and other related industries.Telecom operators urgently need a real-time optical cable monitoring equipment,the equipment can timely,accurately positioning the point of failure and reduce the repair of optical cable time.Therefore,this paper researches the real-time monitoring system of communication cable.Through analyzing the various indexes and application environment of optical fiber cables and the communication industry norms,the system combines with the embedded technology to realize round-the-clock monitoring of the optical fiber optic cable without affecting the transmission of optical cable.The optical fiber is monitored continuously by using the remote light source and the optical power meter.When the cable breaks,the output value of the optical power meter is monitored.The control unit outputs the control signal to the light switch,and then switches to the faulty optical cable.The fault optical cable is connected to the optical time domain reflector,which is measured by OTDR and the abnormal optical cable test data is obtained.The test results show that the system is reliable.The maximum power consumption of the Monitoring Unit is 38 W,and the minimum monitoring alarm time is 1 seconds.The integrated Board is extensible and supports hot plug.The parameters meet the design requirements,and satisfy the monitoring requirements of communication cables.
