Research On The Catalogue Of The Collection Of The Tieqin Copper Jianlou

The Catalogue of Tie Qin Tong Jian Library is a catalog of rare books in the Qus' collection, who lived in Jiangsu province in Qing dynasty, Tie Qin Tong Jian library was a private library of their family. Scholars always focus more on the history of Tie Qin Tong Jian library than on the catalog itself, therefore, I do some research about it and try to find some distinguishing features about qus'collection by comparing with a few catalogs of other three bibliophiles.This thesis consists of two parts. In first part, briefly introduce Qus'five generation from Qu Shaoji who established the library to his great grandson QuFengqi who donated all their books to public libraries. Surveying the history of qus'collection, trying to explain the reason why the library can last for 200 years and where these books come from, how was the catalog be compiled, who had taken part in the job, and when did print the first edition.In part two, comparing style and content with bibliophile Zhang Jinwu's catalog Ai Ri Jin Lu, find that the Catalog of Tie Qin Tong Jian Library has been influenced in classification, but more specific and academic. Then study the content and reveal its value especially in judging different editions. At last, based on catalog of Tie Qin Tong Jian library, tell differences between three other bibliophiles Yang, Lu and Ding in quantity, quality, variety and favorite forms.In conclusion, I made an objective comment on the Catalog of Tie Qin Tong Jian Library, although it has a few flaws such as classified books not appropriately, books lack of written in Ming, Qing dynasties, it is still a very important book for people who wants to know different versions of old books. Qu's family though highly of old books printed in Song, Yuan dynasties, and manuscript copied by some well known bookmen, so they really have these books better than others.
