The purpose of the news media was acknowledged when it first appeared,which is to cover the issues the public needs and wants to know. News media is destined to be a public organization,which is different from the normal business institution.The first priority of media is to spread information. Journalists as the direct creators of the news, are tasked with informing the public with objective reality, but they face competitive and organizational influences. These influential factors will bring about positive or negative effects on the report. Because of the different elements of each person's consideration, different journalists may respond differently to similar situations.The core of this paper lies in the actions repoters make when they are facing a ethical challenge, which is the reporters' ethical decision-making process.In this paper, literature analysis, case analysis, participant observation and other methods are uesd to analyze the subject topic, aiming to deconstruct the reporters'ethical decision-making process. On the vertical aspect, we try to observe the psychological and behavioral changes and the reasons behind the decision making process. On the parallel aspect, the author selects three classic reporter's anomie events, trying to summarise the differences and the similarities among three cases. A large number of thick description is used in the paper to restore the real psychological changes in the process of reporting.In the first chapter, the paper sorts out the existing research in the context of the study,puts forward the core problem and research methods on this basis.In the second chapter, the author discusses how the economic, political, and technological factors act on the ethical decision-making process of a journalist in the light of three specific cases. The third chapter begins with the daily news reporting process of the editorial department, and analyzes the factors which influence the reporter's decision in a series of process. In the fourth chapter, the author puts forward some suggestions on how to avoid all kinds of factors disturbing the normal work.This paper has a strong practical and strong theoretical value,through the observation of the real situations in the specific editing process, to understand the difficuties within the ethical decision-making process, and attempts to provide a feasible solution for this reporter. Discussion on the technical elements of ethical decision-making also has the frontier and hoping to provide some new thoughts to the up-coming researches.
