The complex traditional network architecture has made the performance space of the existing network getting smaller. The emergence of software defined network provides a new way for the future network upgrade and evolution. Its core technology is to separate the data plane and control plane of the traditional switch, which makes the control plane as the upper layer independent application running, and communicating the lower layer data plane through the standard interface protocol. This has realized the flexible control of the network flow and provides a good platform for the innovation of the core network and the upper application. As the most important part of the control plane, the controller has a pivotal position in the SDN network architecture. From a technical perspective, the controller provides the underlying network control through southbound and business support through northbound, which can be used in the traditional switching equipment more decentralized control ability to converge and solves the problems of the unified control of the underlying device and the flexibility of the network functions required by the upper variable services effectively.In this thesis, we focus on the current popular SDN network architecture and its OpenFlow core technology in-depth study. According to the characteristics and needs of the campus network, I design and develop a SDN controller based OpenFlow and then the thesis gives the design and implementation of the equipment management module, the signaling management module and the network communication module based on the overall structure. This thesis puts forward the mechanism to improve the performance of downlink signaling by increasing the signaling conversion module. The controller can collaborate CNVP virtualization network platform powered by Jiangsu Future Networks Innovation Institute to achieve the physical network is divided into multiple independent virtual network. The controller can realize the different virtual network to manage and achieve the optimal reuse of network resources. Users can also manage all network devices within the controller range. The design of the controller while running in the background in a modular resulting in faster processing rate of the flow. Finally, each module functionality and performance were tested.
