With the development and deepening of information technology, nations are more focused on the teaching of virtual simulation experiment, virtual geological field-practices teaching has become the research hotspot in the geological education.This paper is dedicated to the research on the key technologies of virtual geological field-practices system, and designed a geological field-practices system based on a secondary development platform ArcGIS, combined with the results of three-dimensional point cloud data and NoSQL database technology and then built the prototype of the virtual geological field-practices system. The following aspects were discussed in this paper:1) Generalized and summarized the state of the development of virtual reality technology, expounded the working principles of three-dimensional laser scanning technology in detail, put forward the manner to combine three-dimensional laser scanning technology with virtual reality technology in geological field-practices, gave full play to the advantages of two kinds of cutting-edge technology.2) Expounded the spatial model of point cloud data of three-dimensional laser scanning technology, the process of acquisition and the methods of point cloud data disposing, Collected point cloud data of Xiao Longtan Section in Wangcang area using Leica HDS8800, the data were disposed with denoising, splicing and simplify etc, integrated with ArcGIS platform by generated three-dimensional model from the point cloud data.3) Expounded the concept, the principles of NoSQL technology and classification of NoSQL database, selected the documents of NoSQL database as a storage database of point cloud data; The attribute data and geographical spatial were stored in relational, and the geographical spatial data took the spatial data engine as a channel to stored in relational database.4) Analysed the targets of system by the idea of top-level design, designed function modules, using UML class diagrams clarify class, interface, and the relationship between them. Based on N-Tier pattern to design the technical framework of the system, took ArcEngine as the platform of secondary development to design the database table structures of the database and construct the system prototype of virtual geological field-practices.
