The paper carried out researching based on a survey for English teaching situation of high school in Ngari Prefecture,Tibet.Thus the English teaching has its specific characteristics in Tibet basic education and teaching as Tibet is located in the frontier minority areas where geographical environment of snow-covered plateau is different from others.As the third teaching language aside from Tibetan language and Chinese,English teaching meets a great many difficulties and problems,which troubles teachers and students as well as English teaching in ethnic minority areas.In order to learn about realistic difficulties in English teaching of high school and put up with countermeasures of science and standard,the paper adopted various methods including questionnaires,document conclusion,field research and interview to help verify effectiveness of this conclusion and countermeasures.The paper’s structure is as follows:Introduction part of the first chapter explained topic-selecting,research purposes and research methods of the paper.In core concepts,the above three concepts referred to in the paper were explained specially in the research and cleared up research status home and abroad,which was beneficial to study and innovation of the paper.The second chapter took advantage of various research methods to do a survey for English teaching situation of high school in Ngari Prefecture,Tibet;the third chapter gave priority to analyze problems in English teaching of high school,aiming at research results,found cognition and attitude of students for English learning,insufficient cognition and status of teachers for teaching understanding and attitude and raised substantial problems in English teaching of high school;for the reason of analysis,the fourth chapter made suggestions and countermeasures for English teaching of high school in ethnic minority areas---improve cognitive competence of English and motivate learning interest;regulate teaching attitude of English teachers and promote teaching ability;perfect infrastructure of education and improve English teaching condition;innovate English teaching thoughts and strengthen teaching training of teachers.That’s beneficial to solve universal problems in high school education of Tibet area.
