Junior middle school English teaching plays an essential role in the whole basic education English teaching, it is a bridge to communicate elementary school and high school English,which has its special importance. As one of four basic skills,it is not only a means of students learning English but also the content of the students to learn English.Reading plays an important and special role in junior high school English teaching. Especially after New English Curriculum Standard, there are more English reading of the text in Grade Eight,on one hand, the teacher and students feel pressure,on the other hand,English reading teaching effect is not very significant. The problems related to teaching and learning of English reading are becoming more and more serious, which cannot be ignored any more. During the education practice, the writer based in J university, collected a wide range of data,use scientific research methods, aim to find the problems existing in the junior middle school English reading teaching.And on the basis of the corresponding solution measures are put forward, in order to provide the reference for teachers’ teaching and education theory researchers further research.This paper consists of five parts. The first part is literature review, including the background of the English reading study teaching and the value of the paper. The second part gives a brief introduction of the theories of English reading teaching, including the theories of reading, the theory of cognitive development and constructivism theory. The third part is the research part. The author investigates a junior high school English reading teaching situation and finds some problems. From the results of the research in the third part, the author tries to sum up and analyze the main problems of junior high school English reading teaching. The fourth part is the countermeasures part. The author offers some countermeasures for these problems mentioned in the third part.The last part is conclusion and reflection.
