Language is an important instrument of interpersonal communication and it takes a basic form as speaking.As oral communication ubiquitously reaches out to scenes in public and private places,it is perceived as a decisive factor in interpersonal communication;however,under the guideline of Gaokao(College Entrance Examination),oral communication teaching has long been sidelined in high school Chinese class where reading and writing are playing predominant parts.Consequently,a remarkable proportion of high school students has demonstrated adequacy of reading and writing but ineptitude of speaking.Based on the case of high schools in Deqing County of Guangdong province where dialect outperforms Mandarin,this paper examines the status quo of oral communication teaching in high school Chinese class;through literature consulting,questionnaire investigating and case study,it expounds on the oral communication training and proposes effective methods and strategies to improve speaking skills and interpersonal communication capability of students.In this paper,the main content summarized as follows: the introduction briefs on oral communication teaching domestically and abroad;the first chapter begins with the questionnaires of oral communication teaching in high school Chinese class and comes to an analysis of its status quo;the second chapter demonstrates the significance of oral communication capability as to high school students;the third chapter concludes the paper by tabling five countermeasures respective to present problems,which are to promote Mandarin,to update teaching conception,to enrich teaching resources,to diversify training approaches and to construct an assessment system.
