With the melting of the Arctic sea ice during the last decades due to global warming, this region is becoming ever more important for china and the interna-tional community. In recent years, with the increase of China's will and capacity to participate in arctic affairs,a suitable choice of identity became more and more important to China. However,China is at a disadvantage on Arctic issues because it is not an Arctic littoral state.Although both near-arctic state and the stakeholder defined as China's Arctic identity,is of practical to some degree, which cannot meet the need of China in reality. Therefore, this article rethink the politics of identity, and hoids that the choice of partner is a suitable identity for china, which will beter help to receive the Arctic states to accept China's participation in arctic affairs and its corresponding rights, creating a great environment for China's further participation.China is a signatory of the Spitsbergen Treaty and has permanent observer status on the Arctic Council.China can contribute to sustainable economic development in this region.China is ready to embark on maritime-sector cooperation with countries bordering the Arctic Ocean. With a high achievement in polar research, strong political engagement and active participation in discussions about the future and the sustainable development of the Arctic,China is an international partnership in the High North.China is committed to ensuring that the Arctic is used for peaceful purposes only and favours cooperation on Arctic affairs.
