The Semantic Syntactic Analysis And Integration Degree Of "big/small + N"

The structures of “da(大)/xiao(小)+N” are frequently used in daily life.Although their structures seem to be the same,they are not homogeneous.Some of them can be inserted into other components,and the components are tightly integrated and solidified into words.This paper mainly analyzes the components in the structures of “da(大)/xiao(小)+N”,and discusses the syntactic functions of them.On the basis of previous researches,the integration of the structures of “da(大)/xiao(小)+N” is analyzed and inspected in combination with Conceptual Integration Theory.It is producted from two aspects,namely,semantics and syntax,to establish an integration hierarchy of the structures of “da(大)/xiao(小)+N”.Finally,the development of the integration degree of the structures of “da(大)/xiao(小)+N” is explored from diachronic evolutionary angle.The opening chapter mainly introduces the significance of this topic,researches on the adjective "da(大)" and "xiao(小)",as well as researches on “da(大)/xiao(小)+N”,research methods and source of the corpus.The second chapter analyzes the components of the structure.This chapter mainly discusses the spatial and metaphorical meanings of "da(大)" and "xiao(小)",and explores the semantics of the N.Finally,it probes into the syntactic functions of the structures.The third chapter first expounds the standard for dividing the integration levels,and divides them into three grades according to the division basis: a low degree of integration,a degree of integration in the B level,a high degree of integration of the C level.Meanwhile,the analysis of the commonness and differences of structures are completed.The fourth chapter deduces the development of the integration of the structures through the diachronic evolution of “da(大)/xiao(小)+N”,and illustrates it inspecific cases.The fifth chapter gives a conclusion.The syntactic meaning,level of integration and historical evolution of the structure of “da(大)/xiao(小)+N” are explained and summarized.And the shortcomings of this thesis and expectations for further studies are put forward.
