With the popularization of higher education,the scale of colleges and universities is expanding rapidly.In recent years,the number of college graduates increases year by year,it puts great pressure on employment.However,a large number of enterprises have to face a serious shortage of labor.It shows that there is a structural imbalance between higher education and social demand.The state strongly advocates the newly built undergraduate colleges and universities to transform to application-oriented colleges and universities to make up for the shortage of talents.College English,as a required course at newly established universities of Sichuan,still has some problems in teaching under the background of transformation.Through investigating three newly established universities—Chengdu Institute of technology,Sichuan Institute of tourism and Chengdu Teachers' College,this paper is to find out the problems exist in College English Teaching in newly established universities of Sichuan.Combined with the background of Sichuan newly built undergraduate universities' transformation to application-oriented universities and the specialists of College English Teaching in Application-oriented Universities,this paper puts forward corresponding countermeasures and measures hope that it will provide some help for college English Teaching in newly established universities of Sichuan.The first chapter introduces the background?purpose? significance? ideas and structure of this paper.The second chapter defines the related concepts,expounds the relevant research results at home and abroad,states the theoretical basis of this study.The third chapter is research design and discussion of the results,describes the research methods--literature research,questionnaire and interviewing used in this paper,introduces the basic situation of research object and analyzes the results of the questionnaire survey.The fourth chapter sums up the problems,which are reflected in the student questionnaires and teacher interviews,of English Teaching in the newly built college of Sichuan in three aspects.The fifth chapter discusses the importance of College English in Application-oriented Universities and compared with ordinary universities,its specialists in teaching.The sixth chapter combined with the background of newly built undergraduate universities' transformation to application-oriented universities of Sichuan and the specialists of College English Teaching in Application-oriented Universities,in light of the problems exist in school,teachers and students of College English Teaching,this paper puts forward the corresponding countermeasures and measures.
