With the increasingly close communication with the outside world,the social demand for applied talents is increasing.Newly-established Undergraduate Universities are the main force in the transformation to application-oriented undergraduate colleges in the new era,and the main force in cultivating application-oriented talents.College English course is an important part of college curriculum reform and transformation.The College English Teaching Guide(latest2017 edition)which is promulgated by the Ministry of Education clear requirements of college English.The teaching goal is to cultivate the students’ English application ability,strengthen the consciousness of cross-cultural communication and improve English communication ability,and developing their autonomous learning ability,improve the comprehensive cultural quality in learning,life,social interaction.And they can use English effectively in future work in order to meet the needs of the development of the state,society,school and individual.How to integrate college English teaching with the cultivation of application-oriented talents is an urgent problem that needs to be solved.This study in four newly built undergraduate course colleges and universities in Guangxi as a case study.The teachers and students will be involved in investigation and study through literature research,questionnaire,interview method etc.A more detailed analysis of the new undergraduate college English curriculum in Guangxi that exist in three aspects: level of schools,teachers and students level.At the same time,the study combines with the importance of College English Course in newly-established Undergraduate Universities and the special significance,and puts forward them during the transitional period of College English teaching curriculum reform measures: one is multifaceted cooperation,cultivate students’ interest in English learning,deepen the students on the importance of English,in order to adapt to the request of the new period for training applied talents;The second is to strengthen the construction of teaching resource of software and hardware for schools,pay attention to the combination of new media courses online and offline mode,at the same time,reasonable control the scale of class teaching,graded teaching,changing the education teaching idea,timely change course evaluation mode,reasonable increasing the proportion of formative assessment,moderately reduce the proportion of summative assessment;Third,strengthen internal training and external introduction,and combine with enterprises to improve the situation of teachers and expand the professional direction,so as to promote the professional development of teachers;The fourth is to do a good job of basic English,English for special purposes and professional English connection,the development of suitable for the use of the school-based teaching materials or handouts.Therefore,it provides a reference for the reform of college English teaching in newly-built universities under the background of transformation.
