Mountain Bulang, located in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan province, is the largest inhabited area of the Bulang ethnic. In Bulang, the folk songs as well as singing and playing a stringed instrument, which possess a history of some thousands of years, are mainly the representative artistic styles. The documentary, Bulang Treasures, demonstrates not only the external forms, but also the internal unique attributes of the folks as well as the singing and playing. In addition, the viewpoints and consideration toward the cultural transformation from the individuals both in and outside Bulang, are demonstrated vividly, and how Chinese traditional cultures and arts are integrated organically into present trend, in the progress of modernization, is reflected. The documentary uses lens language to record the activities of the artists Yu Kanla, Yu Zhangying and Yu Pashuai, in their music training classes for charity and international music festivals, in hopes of disclosing how they are devoted to the art and succeed in passing down the traditional culture Therefore, this documentary has more intensive cultural connotation, and the protection of the intangible cultural heritage can be well reinforced. With considerable support and efforts from the local establishments, the photographing of the documentary can focus on the the villages, like Manxi,Manyong and Zhanglang in Menghai County.
