| The case of knee osteoarthritis(KOA),also known as knee degenerative arthritis or senile arthritis,increases with age.KOA can swell,stiffen,or cause pain on knee joint,and it can even impair the function of knee joint.The symptom gets worse if the patient tries to use stairs,and KOA patients may experience severe joint deformities and even loss of joint function.KOA belongs to the "bone spasm" and "knee spasm" categories of Chinese medicine.Its main change is the degenerative changes of articular cartilage surface and secondary bone hyperplasia.In case of the patients with joint pain and inflexible activities,X-ray shows narrowing joint space,subchondral bone density,and trabecular fracture,along with hardening and cystic degeneration,and lip-like hyperplasia at the edge of the joints.These symptoms can cause inconvenience in mobility and seriously affect the quality of life of the elderly.As obesity is getting more common and life expectancy is extended,the number of KOA patients has been gradually increased.Therefore,more and more medical workers are paying attention to it.Knee joints are closely related to the quality of life.When knee pain is in a state of inconvenience,it will cause not only physical problems,but also mental difficulties.At present,modern medical treatment methods for this disease are largely divided into surgical treatment and non-surgical treatment.The efficacy of oral analgesics is limited.There are many things patients need to consider in surgical treatment,including financial cost and safety assessment.In addition to fractures or deformities of joints,acupuncture treatment of KOA is beneficial in terms of financial cost,precision,and safety.Based on the "Knee for the tendons of the government" theory,by extending the scope to the knee joint with the muscle along the foot six regular channels,cases related to the similar clinical symptoms and KOA's clinical cases have been discussed.As one of the most discussed treatment methods for the past 10 years,lanthanum has been employed to treat KOA joint.By comparing KOA clinical curative effect of Seirin pyonex needles,"Muscle meridian focus" combined with conventional Seirin pyonex needles treatment and dry Seirin pyonex needles "Muscle meridian focus" combined with conventional acupuncture treatment,this research aims to evaluate which treatment is more effective.ObjectiveThis research aims to observe the treatment of KOA joint by acupuncture at the focal point of tendon acupuncture.The observation would provide a method to treat KOA in not only more simple,convenient,and safe way,but also a way to maximize the effects of dynamic needle retention.MethodsThe patients for the research was recruited from the Acupuncture Clinic at Dongzhimen Hospital from January 2017 to January 2018.The patients were randomly assigned to the observation group and the control group.For the observation group,acupuncture needles were used,and the muscle meridian focus were combined with conventional acupuncture treatment.For the control group,acupuncture needles and acupuncture combined with conventional acupuncture were used,and the needles were placed at subcutaneous 2-3 points for 20 minutes.The needles were irradiated with infrared radiation for 20 minutes.The course of treatment was once every other day,12 hours of treatment.After the 6th and 12th treatments in each group,the progress was evaluated based on visual analog(VAS scores),WOMAC scores,and Lysholm scores.SPSS20.0 software was used for data analysis.Conclusion(1)In the VAS score,intragroup comparisons were conducted to compare before and after the treatment in the two groups.The assessment illustrated that both treatments relieved the symptoms of KOA.There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in relieving symptoms after 6 treatments.However,the difference in relieving symptoms after 12 treatments was statistically significant.In 12 months,the progress in the observation group was superior than that in the control group.(2)In the WOMAC score,the comparison between the two groups before and after the treatment was statistically significant between the two groups after 6 and 12 treatments.Although the symptoms of KOA patients were relieved in both groups,the progress in the observation group was superior than that in the control group both after 6 treatments and after 12 treatments.(3)In the Lysholm score,the comparison between the two groups before and after the treatment was statistically significant between the two groups after 6 and 12 treatments,indicating that the treatments have positive impacts.Comparing the curative effect between the two groups,the differences in symptom remission after 6 and 12 treatments showed no statistical significance.In other words,the observation group was equivalent to the control group.(4)All groups were given 1 course of treatment.The rate of overt treatment was statistically significant in both groups.The total effective rate was not statistically significant.After the treatment was completed,the efficacy of the patients was evaluated.The observation group basically recovered 2 cases,markedly effective in 17 cases,effective in 9 cases,invalid in 2 cases,and the total effective rate was 93.3%.The control group basically recovered 0 cases,markedly improved in 4 cases,and effective in 21 cases.In 5 cases,the total effective rate was 83.3%.One month after the treatment,follow-up assessment was conducted.The symptoms of KOA recurred in 1 patient in the observation group and 5 in the control group.The patients in the observation group collected long-term curative effect with a markedly effective rate of 67.45%,an effective rate of 23.78%,and a total effective rate of 91.23%.Patients in the control group received long-term curative effects.The apparent efficiency is 52.36%,the efficiency is 21.15%,and the total efficiency is 73.51%.(5)Clinical observation of the treatment of knee osteoarthritis by acupuncture shows that the curative effect is significant,and the operation is simple and time-saving.Also,the acupuncture method is safe and acceptable to the patients.Finally,dynamic needle retention has cumulative curative effect.Thus,this research proves that the treatment of knee osteoarthritis using acupuncture has meaningful curative effect,so it is worthy of clinical promotion. |
