Objective: This research used tuina-massage test meters to collect graphs from the right thumb pulp pressing.By comparing the dynamic graphs on maximum pressing force, frequency, power angle, effective working time and a unit period,to analyze the parameter indexes and essentials of Pressing Manipulation,to provide reliable and direct basis for its standardization, and to give guidances on i ts teaching and popularization. Methods: People who took the test were divided into three groups: teachers' group, the boys and girls,10 people in each group. All participants conducted Pressing Manipulation by their right thumb pulp on the force measuring platform of SF-III Intelligent Photometric Measurement S ystem of Tuina-massage after ten-minute rest. The graphs were collected for one minute after the graph s became stable. After all the participants finished their Pressing Manipulation, the researcher randomly captured two screenshots from a participant when replaying the collected graphs, and compared their two screenshots.Results:(1)On the force measuring platform of the SF-III System, the curve formed by the parameters of graphs of thumb-pressing was similar to a trapezoid.(2)The three groups of teachers and students(boy and girl)on aspects of maximum pressing force, frequency, power angle, effective wor king time and a unit period comparison, the difference were statisticall y significant(p< 0.05).(3)Comparison between the boy and the girl group, the differences on frequency,a unit period was statistically significant(p< 0.05),while differences was not statistically significant(p > 0.05)on maximum pressing force, effective working time, power angle.(4)There was a negative correlation between the frequency and effective working time of thumb-pressing manipulation(p < 0.05).However,there was a positive cor relation between a unit period and effective working time(p< 0.05).Conclusion: 1.When the teacher group manipulated pressing, their strength remained stable and changed slowly and gradually, and the duration of their maximum strength is long. After the m aximum strength, their strength waned.Generally speaking, the characteristics of the teacher group's pressing could be summarized as “soft but not superficial, hard but not sluggish;hardness mingled with softness.” 2.Compared with the teacher group, whe n the student group manipulated pressing, they exerted their strength rapidly and changed their strength in a larger scale, however the duration of their effective effort was shorter than the teacher group and they would withdraw the strength of pressing suddenly and promptly which would easily caused “strength shock”.3.The correlation analysis shows that when the frequency of pressing manipulation is slower, the time of the pressing manipulation for one time would be longer, the effective time for pressi ng manipulation would be longer too,and the pressing would be deeper and more thorough.
