With the rapid development of the nuclear industry and nuclear technology application, the application relates to radiation fields, the protection issues arising from the developed world, especially the importance of increasing investment in this area of research efforts and achieved considerable results. Traditional radiation protection material Lead and its compounds, concrete, etc. have been used in particle accelerators, nuclear power and other fields. In recent years, with the rapid development of the extensive use of advanced radiation therapy and diagnostic equipment, nuclear power and aerospace industry, the traditional application of protective materials can not meet the application requirements, need light, environmental protection, excellent physical properties of the new radiation protection material. Radiation protection materials research and development has attracted wide attention from many domestic research personnel in the rubber research, radiation protection fiber made some achievements, however, the present situation, there are many problems to be solved, this aspect research is the necessity and urgency.In this paper, an environmentally friendly and better performance of all aspects of an epoxy resin as matrix material, by incorporating yttrium oxide, germanium and other functional particles to explore new research radiation protection and environment-friendly materials. By adding nano-Y2O3 in an epoxy resin matrix in, GeO2 particles prepared nano Y2O3 / GeO2 / epoxy radiation protection material in the preparation process was controlled during the preparation of their respective temperatures. And the characterization and testing of its structure and shielding performance.The test results were analyzed, the results showed that:Nano yttrium oxide and germanium oxide nano-particles can effectively improve the function of shielding properties of epoxy-based radiation protection material, adding germanium oxide and yttrium oxide does not occur with an epoxy resin bond and reaction, but only mixed the epoxy resin. Calculate the linear attenuation coefficient and mass attenuation coefficient of each sample, and compared with traditional materials lead. The results showed that improving the quality of the material fraction of yttrium and germanium element is to improve the shielding performance composites crucial factor; linear attenuation coefficient and the mass of the sample ray attenuation coefficient with energy-related, near the lead in quality 80 KeV attenuation coefficient is very low, for when 80 KeV ray shielding function of nano particles in the sample mass fraction of 33.3%, which is close to the mass attenuation coefficient of lead, which shows Y2O3 / GeO2 / epoxy-based radiation protection material on the low-energy radiation protection is entirely possible alternative lead.
