Research On Women's Clothing Issues During The Cultural Revolution

The period of Great Cultural Revolution is a special period in the history of New China, people's life was highly controled by country's politics. For example,in Beijing, because women's apparel was influenced and limited by country's politics, military uniform was fashionable, the style and the color of the apparel were monotonous. With the increasing relaxation of the political atmosphere, women's apparel had a few changes, but the whole situation had not been changed. This thesis describes women's apparel of Beijing in the period of Great Cultural Revolution and then explores the reasons of social and cultural.At last, the thesis uses gender theory to analyze the phenomenon from the perspective of social cultural history, concluses that women's apparel was a political symbol.It not only had the politicized feature,but also had the revolutionary feature and the no gender feature.
