Study On Application Of QFD Method In Product Development Of TW Company

Traditional product development is a self-centered development mode.Development of a new product means huge input of time,human and financial resources.For the enterprise with sufficient technical strength and capital support,the product developed with such huge input may not be good for sale,which has high market risk.Therefore,lots of companies flinch for developing new products.Along with rapid economic development and fiercer market competition,only new product whose technical characteristics meet the customer's personalized requirements developed within a short time and low product development cost may meet the requirements of the market and customer.The core objective of product development and production is the customer.The principal line of “meeting the customer's requirements and making the customer to be satisfied” must be carried out during all stages of development and production.The diversification of the customer's requirements makes the corporate R&D and production to be transformed to a market-oriented mode from a production-oriented mode.Therefore,how to get the customer's real and potential requirements in advance during product development and accurately master such requirements becomes the most important problem for product development,which is directly decisive for success or failure of product development.QFD is a new product development quality management method and new quality management tool.Through full survey and correct identification for the customer's requirements prior to product development,QFD performs a hierarchical analysis and transformation for the customer's specific and potential requirements to get the specific production process control elements such as technical characteristics,technical configuration and part structure of the product,so as to control the product quality on a basis to meet the customer's requirements.The application practice of the QFD method in many companies shows that the QFD method may make the product development process to be improved and product and development quality to be enhanced.The QFD method makes the product developer give full consideration to the manufacturing process,processing and manufacturing equipment and method,production assembly method and enterprise resource allocation based on the actual enterprise situation in the design stage and realizes the concurrent design of product development,effectively controlling the product development progress,development quality and cost and playing a significant role in overall enhancement of the product development quality.TW is a professional company which is committed to developing and manufacturing the digital printing equipment,whose product development is performed in a traditional mode.Although it invests much in product development and develops lots of new products,few of such products are accepted by the market and customer and generate the economic benefits.In particular,production and sales have been limited by long development time of the new product,frequent design change during production and product complaints from the customer during use in recent years.This Article tries to introduce the QFD method into the TW's product development management system to solve the prominent problems during product development and overcome the obstacles of product development management.This Article takes development of the digital printing one-in-all machine applied to the textile mold by TW as an entry point to introduce the QFD method,transforms the customer's requirements into the technical characteristics,technical configuration and part structure of the product through the specific application of the QFD method to the technology of the core technology quality house and defines the problems to be noted when the specific part structure is designed.The application of this method plays a prominent role in optimizing the product characteristics,shortening the product development period,mastering the key development points and enhancing the product development quality.During study of this topic,make a survey for the customer's requirements through distributing the questionnaires to the customers,analyze them using the hierarchical analysis method,calculate the degree of importance of each customer's requirement and perform the ordering analysis for the degree of importance;construct the quality houses of each stage using the QFD method and define the technical characteristics and confirmation and specific part structure of the product;during the whole QFD implementation process,the QFD teams are built in each stage,which cooperate with the same objective and strengthen the horizontal ties and communication among departments through the special product development mode of QFD.All employees taking part in product development reach consensus for the customer's requirements,reducing the frequency change during product development and shortening the product development period.This Article purposefully proposes the development direction of TW in terms of the application of the QFD method based on the study on the application of the QFD method in development of TW's digital printing one-in-all machine applicable to the textile mold and summarizes the experience for the application of the QFD method to other projects.
