Recent years, a series of problems in environmental resources occur due from the extensive grows of regional economy without considering th e harmony with environmental resources. These problems, like lake of wat er, loss of forests, erosion loss and smog, have seriously impeded the regi on’s comprehensive development. Coordinated development is a staple met hod to solve the contradiction between development of society and econo my. It’s significant to deeply study and analyze the interaction mechanism between each subsystem: society, economy, resources and environment, as such to quantificationally evaluate the harmony between regional social ec onomy and environmental source.From the perspective of regional harmonious development, this research established evaluation index system in four aspects: regional social development, economic development, the importance resources and carry capacity of environment, used RS and GIS technology to reveal the coordination between regional social economy and environmental resources from the aspect of space, realized quantitative research of coupling coordination. Introducing case study in Juncheng, Shanxi Province, we provided references for the plan of regional development of society and economy and protection of resources. Main conclusions are as follows:(1) Based on the basic theory of coupling coordination, we analyzed interaction mechanism between social economy and environmental resource s. Regarding the social development, economic development, importance o f resources and the carry capacity of environment as four independent sys tems, we built the index system to evaluate the coupling coordination acc ording to the principle of index establishment.(2) Determined the weight of each evaluation index by using “refined analytic hierarchy progress”: use three degrees, 1, 2 and 3, to indicate th e the relative importance of each index, then get the weight value of eac h index by exchanging judgment matrix. To some extent, this method ove rcome the complexity to determine index weight in the process of traditi onal AHP method, can give the judgment matrix more easily, make the p rogress of determining weight value more objective and simple.(3) According to the established evaluation index system, built the m odel of each evaluation index, then determine the evaluation model of soc ial development, the evaluation model of economic development, the evalu ation model of resources’ importance and evaluation model of environment al carry capacity. Established the evaluation model of regional coupling co ordination from the aspects of society, economy, resources and environmen(4) We introduced case study in Jincheng, Shanxi province, collected and organized the basic data on its’ society, economy and natural conditio ns. Based on RS and GIS, we used remote sensing, vectorization, the extr action of slope and river network, spatial interpolation, reclassification and raster math to realize the networking study of evaluation index in each sy stem instead, replacing the traditional method based on administrative bou ndaries. This research also realized the regional coupling coordination eval uation in spacial, divided the Jincheng city into four parts: serious imbala nce and recession, mild imbalance and recession, basic coordinated develo pment and highly coordinated development. We put forward targeted meas ures for different regions, which provides direction and guidance for Jinch eng’s coordinated development.
