The Research Of CVF Company For New Product Research And Development

In last 60 years, CVF Company has developed to be a world leader brand in its area, but its R&D is getting slower and blunted to satisfy market demand. The author makes a thorough analysis on CVF R&D management at development process, project management, team performance management, product development strategy. Typical problems of CVF R&D are as follows: not able to capture the market demand effectively; "one-stop equipment providers" worse inventory varieties; traditional Stage-Gate R&D process by multi-function departments cannot realize a high efficient development; weakness in R&D project management; improper personal performance indexes cannot incite R&D people effectively.Based on the above analysis, the author puts forward improvement suggestion on CVF R&D: recognize important customer and accurately grasp their customers; propose a process which can be tailored on project complexity; pay much more attention to product demand investigation in the beginning, and respond initiatively to demand changes; properly authorize project manager and adopt R&D project matrix; setup new performance index by combination with R&D process and management. In addition, the author predicts the difficulties that may be encountered in the R&D management improvement proposed, and puts forward corresponding countermeasures.At the end, the author concludes several suggestions for our small and medium-sized enterprises on research of CVF R&D management. Firstly, small and medium sized enterprises can enhance R&D capabilities by R&D management improvement. Secondly, R&D management must base on basic R&D process. R&D management reform must carry on the system design, forward-looking, and be full of challenges and difficulties. So, full support from top management is a critical to succeed.Hope that this paper will provide some valuable reference for our small and medium enterprises in R&D management improvement.
