As one of the important parts of human resources management, performance management is an effective tool to gain competitive advantage. But in many enterprises, many problems arise in the process of carrying out performance management, which influences the functions of performance management. In the era of sluggish economic environment, the implementation of the performance appraisal system has a very positive and far-reaching significance for enterprises. Therefore, it is profound for managers to develop a set of reasonable performance management system.Guided by the Balanced Scorecard theory and Key Performance Indicator theory, this paper analyzed the present situation of the performance appraisal system in Changsha Pepsi Cola Co., LTD on the basis of domestic and overseas research achievements on performance management. And some problems are found, such as the performance management system being not strategy-oriented, performance management system is not perfect, and the limitations of the results of the appraisal application.Mainly due to the following aspects:performance appraisal is not scientific and rigorous, understanding of performance management are accurate enough, performance appraisal through the motions. Based on post function division of professional staff, a hierarchical classification of staff performance appraisal system must be set up. Implementation of company employees for different assessment, take maximum efficiency of the performance appraisal and promote employees improve work performance. We use the different appraisal methods to the different personnel. For example, the senior personnel should be evaluated by the balance scorecard. The middle personnel should be evaluated by comprehensive appraisal index and the junior staff should use KPI method.The improvement of the performance appraisal system can transfer and implement the company's strategy development and business objectives, promote the performance of the employees, departments and the company. To improve the company's management process, promote the scientificity and standardization of management, apprail objectively and fairly the employee's performance and contribution, provide the support for the human resource decision such as salary adjustment or grading, performance pay, promotion, training, employee motivation, which can improve employee morale and employee satisfaction, improve the company's cohesion and centripetal force.
