Transformation and upgrading have become a development trend of Chinese enterprise, and leanness has become an effective management tool. To do this, lean management consultation industry has been developing rapidly, however, there is no industry standard. Furthermore, at present most of the management consulting firms are staggering ahead. Thus, research on influencing factors about successful lean management consulting projects is urgently required.On the basis of literature review, experience extraction, and in-depth interviews,this dissertation screened out 81 factors affecting the success of lean management consulting projects. Through Delphi method, 20 key influence factors were determined by six experts in leanness. A questionnaire was designed based on analytic hierarchy process(AHP), then data was obtained through distributing 100 questionnaires. The respondents were 10 senior consultants who were from there consulting firms, and senior managements, project leaders, and middle managers who were from 20 corresponding items. Data was verified through the validity test and reliability analysis, and then the dimensions of influencing factors were test through the principal component analysis(PCA). Afterwards, key factors were ranked and selected according to their relative importance, and their determine weights were obtained. Finally, the conclusion of this study was obtained through a case.The major research findings are as follows. From the lifecycle perspective, the key factors are major project node, project target, and control the key nodes. In terms of project cost, the key factors that affect the cost of consulting company are the time node, the control of human resources, while the key factors affecting enterprise cost are the control of total expenditure. Then, from the perspective of project quality, key factors affecting project are: customer strong willingness to change, the implementation steps of standardization degree, agents of customer transformation,customer problem identification and the understanding of real demand, common desire for improvement, the trust between two sides, and senior support from customers. In addition, the key factor affecting personnel with lean skills is staff training. Finally, with respect to enterprise continuous improvement, the involvement of customers in the whole process and the development of lean terms are both necessary.
