Research On The Application Of Six Sigma In Software Testing Project Management

In recent years, software testing has been developing rapidly because of the break-through of Internet technology and the higher demand for the quality. As an industry targeting to find out the problems, with a good process, not only the quality of the software tested could be improved, but also we could raise the efficiency, shorten time and boost output. Thus, the designing and optimization of testing process are very critical to software testing and software testing industry, which also has important realistic significance.This thesis comes from the real problems the author met during his engagement in software testing project management. With the theoretical support by Project Management, Software Testing and Six Sigma Management this thesis is to explore the application of Six Sigma tool and method into software testing project management to solve the common problems during software testing project management.Through related theory, the flaw in traditional software testing model is analyzed, and the universal model is built with combination of actual situation in software testing. In the mean time, The analyzing is made on common problems in software testing management, the difference between six sigma management and project management, the correspondence between six sigma process and software testing process, and also the introduction of six sigma principle in software testing process, the integrating model is set up on the basis the universal model by introducing six sigma design and six sigma improving-process. In the end, the integration model is analyzed by two process IDOV and DMAIC using case analysis method. The six sigma management tool and method is applied in Mail-box software testing process during corresponding period.The exploration on applying Six sigma management theory into software testing project management in the thesis, such as introducing IDOV process in the testing preparing phrase, applying DMAIC process in testing executing phrase and applying six sigma tool and method in practical software testing process etc. has provided theoretical support for improving software testing in enterprise, it also has strong practical value and the application of theoretical reference value.
