Six Sigma is a methodology for utilizing resource and improvingmanagerial effectiveness. It focuses on the customers and theirrequirements. Six Sigma is a metrics driven approach to continuousimprovement that starts with quantitative business goals providing directvalue to the customer.In this paper, it introduces the theory of Six Sigma management andhow to apply the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve andControl) methodology to the quality management of software development.The goal of applying Six Sigma management is to improve the quality ofthe software and reduce the defect number among the development. Sixsigma management is used to identifier the critical problem and the voiceof customer, and sets the goals accordingly. Then the project teammeasures the capability of the process and collects the metrics of thecritical point to the quality. Then the management team determines thecritical issue and works out the continuous improvement program andapply it to the real development process. Finally the quality of the softwareproduct and the effectiveness of the team are definitely improved, and thegoals are achieved.At last, it summarizes the methodology and issues of the execution ofSix Sigma Management, and brings up the new goal for the next step.
