In the era of rapid development of information technology,how to effectively explore and find the characteristics and laws in the face of vast digital information,has become one of research focuses in the field of scientometrics.The scientific knowledge map is an emerging method under this background.So,this thesis uses methods of citation analysis,information visualization and cluster analysis to analyze 946 English literatures from Wo S(Web of Science)and 232 Chinese literatures from CSSCI(Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index)and draw the knowledge map in the field of physical education(PE)teaching researches with the Cite Space.It shows and analyzes the frontiers and hotspots of PE teaching researches in China and the United States in the past five years from 2012-2016 for scholars in this field.Then,it makes comparisons of them and draws the following conclusions.In the past five years,the similarities of the frontier researches in the field of PE teaching in China and the United States mainly focused on the following points: Both countries have paid great attention to the research topic of PE methods and curriculum and so on.In the past five years,the differences of the frontier researches in the field of PE teaching in China and the United States mainly focused on the following points:(1)The researches on PE teaching methods in China tend to be qualitative,while the researching methods in the United States incline to be quantitative and empirical;(2)The researches on PE curriculum in China are biased towards curriculum standards or reforms of PE and health,while the studies of PE curriculum in the United States are biased towards practices under the curriculum background;(3)In the study of the decline in physical fitness of adolescents,China gave relevant recommendations in the aspect of compulsory sports,while the United States carried out researches on physical activities and cross-field surveys;(4)From national conditions,the frontier research topics in PE teaching in China are biased in College PE and the rural school PE,while counterpart researches in the United States tend to focus on PE in primary and secondary schools,PE teachers and pre-service teacher education;(5)The literature in the field of PE teaching in the United States combines many computer simulations with mathematical simulation models,especially in the combination of psychology and physical education.However,it is still relatively rare in the study of PE in China.In the past five years,the similarities of hotspots researches in PE teaching between China and the United States have mainly focused on the following points: Both countries have paid more attention to research hotspots in school sports,physical education courses,and health etc.In the past five years,the differences of hotspots researches in PE teaching between China and the United States have mainly focused on the following points:(1)Researches on school sports in China tend to be problem-oriented,while researches on PE teaching methods in the United States are biased towards the health of students,especially on the aspect of “exercise is medicine.”(2)In the aspect of the combination of health and PE teaching,researches on health in China are biased towards the study of students' physical fitness.Meanwhile,the researches on health in the United States tend to study from the perspective of public health.(3)The researches on PE curriculum in China are biased towards PE curriculum reform,while in the United States practices under the curriculum background are underscored.(4)Starting from the national conditions,the hotspots in the field of PE teaching in China are in “sports and health curriculum standards”,PE teachers,PE ideas,education theories,and college sports.Nonetheless,hotspots of PE teaching in the United States lie in physical activities,children and adolescents,Students,women,sports education,PE,selfdetermination theory,and the combination of psychological motivations and PE.According to the above conclusions,it is suggested that researches of PE teaching in China should be adjusted from the following aspects:(1)The researching methods of PE teaching in China should pay attention to qualitative research while introducing quantitative research appropriately.(2)The study of PE curriculum in China should pay more attention to the details of PE curriculum.(3)More attention should be paid to non-sports or non-exercise influencing factors in the study on the decline in physical fitness of adolescents in China.(4)School PE research in China should not only focus on issues such as teaching and systems,but also should increase researches on “exercise is medicine”.(5)The researches of PE teaching in China should appropriately increase the researches on PE from the perspective of public health.
