With the advent of the Internet Plus era and the development of electronic communication technology and Network Integration technology,wireless sensor networks are applied more and more widely in all aspects.From our daily life to military field and aerospace,wireless sensor networks play an important role.Routing protocol is the key of wireless sensor network's own advantages,in other words,the quality of the routing protocol directly determines the performance of wireless sensor networks.AODV is one of the most popular routing protocols,and its performance in the small scale network is very superior.However the number of control packets in the network surges when the scale of the network becomes larger.With lots of control packets,network congestion becomes heavy and data transmission delay is increased.At the same time energy consumption also becomes large,the network even can not work.This work proposes an improved AODV routing protocol which is based on the characteristics of community structure to overcome the disadvantage of AODV.In the improved AODV routing protocol,the entire network is optimized mainly from the structure.The whole network is divided into multiple clusters and each cluster has its cluster head.the gateway acts as a transit point between the clusters,thus avoiding the AODV "flooding" process to produce a large number of control packets.Finally,through the simulation platform,the AODV routing protocol and the improved AODV routing protocol simulation were made.Through the comparison of the simulation results,we verified the feasibility of the proposed improvement method.
