With the development of economy and people's increasingly need of material and culture,large-span spatial structures have developed rapidly in recent years.Traditional grid structures can't meet people's needs of large span gradually,while the emergence of cable supported structures solves this problem.The cable supported grid structure combines the advantages of grid structures and cable supported structures.Compared with the traditional grid structure,cable supported grid structures can achieve larger span.Meanwhile,more and more software which are concerned with structural analysis have appeared,such as Midas.SPA2000?Perform 3d and so on.All kinds of software have their own applicable conditions,and the accuracy of the analysis results are not the same.This passage firstly makes an introduction of the development of the cable supported grid structure and then makes a summary of all kinds of common software related to this kind of structure.After making comparative analysis with all kinds of software,it is concluded that the Midas Gen is more suitable for the structural analysis and research of cable supported grid structures.In order to make analysis and draw construction plans of cable supported grid structures better,the passage conducts the development of a program which can convert structural models from Midas Gen to MSTCAD.Then we analyze two cases by means of Midas Gen and MSTCAD.Through this process,we verify Midas Gen' s applicability of the structural analysis of cable supported grid structures and MSTCAD is very convenient to draw construction drawings.The first case is structural analysis of a steel roof of the Dong Gu Primary school stadium,which is built in Tianjin Binhai New District(formerly Tanggu district).The second case is reinforcement analysis of a steel roof of Baoding stadium.Both the cases' structural form are cable supported grid structure.Through the above cases,we can draw the following two conclusions:1.the aspect of software:Midas Gen has strong applicability on the structural analysis of cable supported grid structures;The subroutine developed in this passage,which can easily import Midas Gen models into MSTCAD,has practical value.2.the aspect of structure:The cable supported grid structures in this two cases have good mechanical property which can ensure the requirements of safety and stability.
