Designing and analyzing of new equipment consist of cable structures with the Virtual Prototyping (VP) is can be benefit for shortening the exploitation period, playing down the cost, improving the quality of the product, which is going to be the main trend of the technique researching of complex electromechanical system. The study of the flexible multi-body system dynamic theory, the dynamic modeling, the dynamic characteristics of the impact of new equipment consist of cable structures with VP by Pro/E, ANSYS and RecurDyn was focus on by this paper. The work has been done as follows:At first, the general form of the dynamic equations of flexible body, the nonholonomic constraint equations and the dynamic equation of mechanical restraint system were established by a discrete finite elements method and using virtual displacement principle and d'alembert's principle, which laid a theoretical foundation for the dynamic simulation.Next, a dynamic finite element model of cable structure was established by the relative coordinate relationship and recursive algorithm, which was constructed by Beam4 elements, and its geometric parameters were studied. Then the multi-rigid-body model was established by the Bushing force connection, and its tensile, shear, torsional and bending stiffness coefficient was showed. An impact dynamic model of cable structures was established by putting the contact constraint into the dynamic model of cable structure. The three dynamic models of cable were established and dynamic them under self weigh and tension at one end, which insured the accuracy of the modeling method. The system consists of the active and passive cable was established using the above-mentioned modeling. The three demission entity models of the trolley was modeled by Pro/E, the active and passive finite element cables were modeled by ANSYS, and the impact dynamic model of cable structures was established by RecurDyn.At last, the above impact dynamic model of cable structures was simulated by RecurDyn, the simulation gave a visualized description of the impact process and sliding process and got the dynamic contact force and dynamic response curves with the given input traction load. The simulation also disclosed the influence of movement characteristics of the trolley during the impact process and evaluated the design selection of the active and passive steel cable in the actual projects.With the above research, this paper gave the general form of the dynamic model and impact dynamic model of cable structures, and gave the methods and steps of modeling the virtual prototype of the impact dynamic model system of cable structures, from which, the method was studied on the precision of the dynamic models of cable structure by comparing the theoretical value and simulation value, and the application environment of the models. The big reel was regarded as the equivalent small reel for easily simulation according to the equivalence of work energy in the paper. The analysis method showed in the paper realized the visualization impact dynamic simulation process between the cable structures and the method can be used in real project analysis.
