With the development of information technology,Ethernet has been widely used in all areas since its birth.In the field of video processing,a large amount of long-distance real-time video data transmits by showing the collected data via an Ethernet card,Ethernet being the medium of transmission.On the basis of the industry-university-research cooperration situation,For the FPGA to implement the communication gigabit Ethernet card design conducted in-depth research.The paper based on Xilinx Virtex-5 LXT FPGA family as the development platform,this article put forward a high-speed data transmission scheme between Gigabit Ethernet cards after study of the MAC layer mechanism of Gigabit Ethernet,the features of GMII interface and the physical layer chip 88E1111 produced by Marvell.By means of ISE 14.4 of Xilinx company,this paper using Verilog language constructed a increasing data souce and data cache module implemented across the clock domain processing and effective data extraction module extracted data effectively according to the LocalLink protocol.building a system on programmable chip,which contains a variety of peripheral device and uses Microblaze soft-core processor as the core,on the basis of ISE embedded development Kit EDK.MAC layer XPS_LL_TEMAC core by LocalLink protocol interface and multi-port memory controller MPMC soft direct memory access for data exchange,save processor resources,increase the speed of data transmission.The paper elaborates in detail the construction method of embedded hardware platform,the design of system hardware drivers and the design of application based on light weight TCP/IP protocol stack LwIP,completes debugging of each part,and proceed a test of whole system via Ethernet test tools.Design of the communication between maximum transmission rate of gigabit Ethernet interface card can support 192.8 million bits per second.Test results show that which satisfies the design request of the system.In addition,data interface of the design are flexible to meet the need of varieties of applications.
