Recently,with the development of wireless communication technology,Wireless Local Area Networks(WLAN)and Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access(WiMAX)have been widely used.However,with the explosive growth of the users,the spectrum resource has become more limited,so the higher performance of the antenna in wireless communication is required.In order to solve the current urgent problem,researchers have paid more and more attention to the technology of the miniaturization,broad band and multi-band of the antenna.In this paper,we have studied the development and the technology of the miniaturized and multi-band micro-strip antennas.Also,the theory of antenna design,especially the performance parameters and basic principles of the micro-strip antenna has been expounded.At last,several micro-strip antennas with the features of miniaturization and multiband have been designed.1?A simple dual-band antenna using a meander line and a tapered rectangle patch for WLAN applications.The design,with the size of 35mm×20mm,is composed of a meander line and a tapered rectangle patch.The proposed antenna can provide two resonance frequencies with a-10 dB bands of 2.26GHz~2.93 GHz and 4.2GHz~5.95 GHz at lower band and upper band to cover both the 2.4 GHz ~2.4825 GHz and 5.15 GHz ~5.825 GHz WLAN bands.2?A miniaturized roundabout line dual-band antenna for WLAN Applications.The proposed antenna composes of a meander line and an L-shaped patch has a compact size of 15 mm × 9 mm,can produce two resonance frequencies with a-10 dB bands of 2.28 GHz ~2.55 GHz and 5.04 GHz ~6.0GHz.3?A miniaturized compact dual-band antenna for WLAN Applications.The proposed antenna has a compact size of 12.5mm × 7.5 mm,and the bands of 2.38 GHz ~2.57 GHz and 5.12 GHz ~5.94 GHz are obtained by the use of a meander line and a coiling patch.4?A three-band antenna for WLAN and WiMAX Applications.The design,with the size of 30mm×20mm,and the three-band characteristics are obtained by the use of meander line patches.When the resonance frequencies is-10 dB,the design has satisfactory performance within the frequency of 2.39 GHz ~2.55 GHz,3.3GHz ~3.75 GHz and 5.13 GHz ~5.88 GHz,which can meet the demand of WLAN and WiMAX with the frequency of 2.4GHz ~2.4825 GHz,3.4GHz ~3.69 GHz and 5.15 GHz ~5.825 GHz.All the designs of the antennas mentioned above have been simulated over the electromagnetic simulation software HFSS13.0.The results show that the designs can fully satisfy the performance indexes.
