With the rapid development of the electronics and information technology,radar cross section(RCS)reduction techniques has becoming a core issue in the military field.Therefore,the study of RCS has got As an important device of transmitting and receiving electromagnetic waves,antennas are the dominant scatters at low observable platform.Because of the special scatters characteristic of antenna,controlling the antenna RCS is a key point to achieve platform stealth..As a new electromagnetic material,metamaterials is proposed in recent years and widely used in antenna design.By taking advantages of some features of those metamaterials,Desired antenna performance of radiation characteristics and scattering characteristic can be obtained.Now,the metamaterials have the commom features of simple structure,so the antenna characteristics can be improved with small cost when metamaterialsare used in the antennas.With the advantages of small size,light weight,low profile,easy machining and processing,the microstrip patch antenna and slot antenna are widely used in low observable platform.In this thesis,according to the working principle of those two kinds of antenna,a suitable metamaterial isused around the proposed antenna and low RCS is achieved.The specific work is as follows:Frist,RCS reduction principle of annulus metallic material is explained by formulas and simulations.Then the annulus metallic material is printed onthe upper grounded dielectric substrate of the microstrip antenna,the wide band monostatic RCS reduction is achieved.Based on the discussion of the double viasartificial magnetic conductor,the structure has the polarization conversion characteristic and electronmagnetic band gap.By placing the material on the slot antenna,the characteristic of high gain and low RCS is achieved.
