An Investigation Into The Information Acquisition Behavior Of Pupils

Information acquisition of primary school students is an important part of the education of information literacy.Through information acquisition,Students gain the ability to collect information,process information and use information,thus they can improve their own ability to adapt to the information society.However,because the pupils lack both social experience and the ability of searching,they can't perceive their own awareness of information acquisition,which limits the information acquisition's channels and content and so on.Therefore,this article studies the awareness of primary school students' information acquisition,understands and masters the channels of information acquisition of pupils,the ability of information acquisition by using technical knowledge,and a series of information acquisition behaviors such as acquiring the information content.Based on some relevant literature of collating and analyzing the information acquisition both at home and abroad,this study makes the pupils the objects of the study and researches the characteristics of changes,which appear in the process of information acquisition behaviors along with the cognitive activity.In this way we can construct the information acquisition behavior model of pupils.By questionnaire,this paper studies the information acquisition behaviors of primary school students in Nanhe County of Xingtai.The questionnaire is designed according to the characteristics situation of information acquisition that combines the actual situation of information acquisition of the pupils.There are three aspects of Information acquisition behaviors: Awareness of information acquisition,Channels of information acquisition,Content of information acquisition.By analyzing the data obtained from the questionnaire survey,we found an objective problem exists: 1.Nearly 50% of primary school students have no initiative consciousness of information acquisition,and among them the awareness of the girls and the low-grade students are relatively weaker.2.The channels to information primary school students are integrally narrow.And the pupils like searching on the Internet most,then go to the library,at last they go to ask the teachers;and the students living in the school dormitory prefer to ask the teacher for help to obtain information resources.3.Most primary school students obtain the information about entertainment,the proportion of searching learning materials which is assigned by the teacher is higher.And the low-grade students get more information is about extensive reading.4 By analyzing the satisfaction of information acquisition,20% of students are satisfied,but because of various reasons 80% of students are not satisfied.According to the problem having been analyzed,this article comes up with five feasible measures: 1.We should improve awareness of information literacy by publicity and train students to get information more actively;2.We could use the books to broaden the channels of access to information,which can make students get updates and more comprehensive information resources;3.We ought to strengthen the professional skills of the network in order to find out information content we wanted quickly through the network technology;4.To improve the ability of access to information by the layered teaching,teach students in accordance of their aptitude and then improve gradually;5.By using the second classroom to train the ability of information acquisition,by utilizing the extracurricular activities and with the teachers' guidance to access to information effectively to make the pupils contact with information resources maximally.
