The quality of fuel atomization affects power,economy and emission of the engine.The quality of atomization and spray characteristics are related closely,this paper combine schlieren method with high speed camera to obtain oil-beam image,using high resolution digital camera acquire droplet image after atomization,and using digital image processing to measure the spray characteristics,to provide data for the study of the atomization quality.In this paper,comparison and analysis functions of image enhancement algorithm,threshold segmentation,edge detection and morphology in the image processing toolbox of MATLAB,based on the different features of oil-beam image droplet images,different image processing methods are used to pretreatment,then implement image recognition and design algorithm to measure spray parameters.The measurement of the spray cone angle by straight line fitting of oil-beam's edge linear,reduce the measurement error,comparison and analysis of the measurement results of least squares linear detection and Hough transform line detection,finally choose least square method.Designed the spray image processing system based on MATLAB/GUI,and t compiled the system into executable file by the built-in toolbox,it can run independently on the computer that was not install MATLAB,increase the portability of the system,it also provides the function of data storage,drawing curves,dynamic oil beam growth process chart.Finally,the system is used to measure the spray characteristic and compared with artificial statistical data to analyze the system error and verify the feasibility of the system.Measurement high quality image that was selected from experimental images by the image filter system,the results show that the increase of injection pressure can improve the number of small diameter droplet,improve the quality of atomization;nozzle hole diameter increases result the spray cone angle increases,but penetration distance does not change significantly;the increase of ambient pressure can result the spray cone angle increasing and penetration distance becomes smaller;the increasing speed of pump will increase the spray cone angle,but almost does not affect the penetration.
