As novel structures, frequency selective surfaces(FSSs)have wide applications on the radar stealthy and wireless communication for its spatial filtering capabilities.Floquet mode for FSS application is described.Transmission line models, model methods and finite difference time domain(FDTD)analysis are briefly introduced, all of which are analysis methods of FSSs.Multi-band FSSs are studied.A dual band FSS and a triband FSS are designed. The dual band FSS has a low insert loss in passbands and a high reflection in the wide rejection band, which are useful for the absorptive FSS in the later chapter. The proposed triband FSS is with wideband, low insert loss in passbands and sharp falling down characteristics.Furthermore, the parametric analysis is given and design guideline is attached.Absorbing material combined with FSS is investigated. Both FSS absorber loaded with lumped resistors and impedance sheet are designed. The former is with transmission window above the absorbing band and simulating antenna with and without FSS absorbing radome respectively shows that RCS of the antenna-radome system can be reduced dramatically in out-of-band.The latter is with a transmission band between absorbing bands.Simulated results show that the monostatic and bistatic RCS can be significantly reduced with directivity diagram hardly affected.
