With the development of computers,we have entered the era of information explosion recent years.As the diversity of video information and amount of data to be processed growing,how to reduce those complicated video data,has become a focused concern.More and more video coding algorithms emerged,and MPEG-4 encoding standard belongs to the second generation encoding algorithms.It has inherited many excellent characteristics from the first generation algorithms.It also use a new encoding method based on object from a biological point of view.The paper focuses on the study and implementation of video encoder based on FPGA.The main work is as follows:MPEG-4 encoding standard is based on object.The paper gives an in-depth analysis of the coding process,explains the details of intra-coding,inter-coding mode,DCT,quantization and entropy coding method.Proposed the video encoder structure based on FPGA,including data transmission module,motion estimation and compensation predictive coding module.We introduced the design concept of each module.We also learned the ISE FPGA software platform and the hardware platform of VC707.The VC707 is based on the Virtex-7 hardware platform.To design the video encoder on the FPGA has many good points,such as less time cost,lower cost of money,easier to debug violations.As a result,we chose the FPGA.We implemented the MPEG-4 video encoder on the ISE experimental platform based on FPGA architecture.We has completed the whole process of the design.We use the data transmission module for describing testing process both of the hardware level and software level and completed it by JTAG mode;We simulated the motion estimation module and compensation predictive coding module,proposed a quantization matrix cured in ROM module designed structural innovatively.Finally,we completed our video encoder by combining all of the modules.
