In the realistic context of China's transition period,sudden mass incidents have become the norm in contemporary china.This is an era dominated by the media logic,media reports shape people's awareness of events,especially in the event of a sudden mass incidents.Many scholars believe that communication is the key to the success or failure of sudden mass incidents,so the news media plays an important role in the field of sudden mass incidents.The news media as a core element of the unexpected mass incidents of communication,one belongs to the category of matter,has its unique function,so it has considerable independence;but because of the traction power and capital power,its independence is often affected by erosion.From this point of view,the use of "media role" and not "media function",in fact,recognize the complexity and richness of media behavior,given its characteristics.This paper analyze and sort out the system and Rethinking on the formation of the development history and current situation of China's media role of mass emergency communication on important value functions and roles are revealed and expounded on China's news media in the spread of sudden mass incidents,and analyze the existing contradictions and difficulties,provides a new idea for the media to achieve its proper role in the spread of sudden mass incidents.
