There are new Challenges for human's ability to control information in the Big Data Era. Media, meanwhile, as a main way to spread traditional information, will inevitably be a great impact by it. So what's the strategic positioning for media?In this paper Value, chain and SWOT are adopted to fully study Foshan Media Group's external environment changes and adjustment of internal strategies in the big data era. Answering the questions, Foshan Media Group as an enterprise, “Where are we, where are we going, and when will we compete(take actions)" are finding ways out for traditional media. It is full of opportunities for Foshan Media Group in the big data era, because it has advantages in geography, environment, regional industrial development, development of private economy, local scientific and technological innovation,government support, a large of audience in the region, the practice of media convergence for many years, and focusing on the development of new media,etc.. As long as it seizes these opportunities and advantages, and takes actions to solve the problems of external weaknesses, lack of specialized personnel, lack of professional and technical support, and lack of experience in diversified operation. The top management should firstly have an in-depth thinking about the application of big data and make strategies applied to the development of big data era. As a content provider, who definitely is suit for the development of new technologies, should make a reasonable allocation of corporate resources, and should use big data technologies and should adopt audience-oriented and diversified strategy. The slide of the whole industry could be cracked if the company sought breakthroughs in aspects such as the mode of propagation and the content and mode of operation.Actually, Foshan Media Group is a first media convergence media group in China. Its practice in application of big data gives a vital significance for other municipal media.
